Michael Jackson, the legendary pop singer who has been dead for five years, has released a new song, and premiered its video on Twitter. The Jackson Estate has released the video for ‘A Place With No Name’, which was originally recorded in 1998, and is one of a number of previously unreleased tracks on the ‘Xscape’ album that came out in May this year. At 10pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, the video went live to Jackson’s 1.51 Twitter followers and has already been retweeted more than 24,000 times.

The social media platform reportedly has the video exclusively for 12 hours. The video starts off with black and white footage showing the late singer dancing in a pair of black jeans and a white vest, against a white building, while a storyline develops between a man and a woman who meet in a desert and end up dancing evocatively on a beach.

The video then becomes full-colour, showing the couple dancing overlaid with different footage of Jackson smiling, looking out onto the desert, and dancing. It appears to be strong re-working of America’s ‘A Horse With No Name’, with the song’s “La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la” refrain clearly sung by Jackson at the end of his version. Michael Jackson’s unfinished version was completed posthumously by StarGate, the producers who have worked on some of Beyonce’s, Rihanna’s and Katy Perry’s hits, who were recruited by label Epic for the project.
