Dr. V. K. Raju inducted as Morgantown Rotary Club President

Former Morgantown Rotary President Sarah Woodrum inducted Dr V K Raju as the current president at Mason-Dixon Park.

MORGANTOWN, WV (TIP):Eminent ophthalmologist and President of Eye Foundation of America Dr. V. K. Raju was recently inducted as 22-23 president of Morgantown Rotary Club. Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends and problem solvers. Rotarians see a world where people united and take action to create lasting change across the global, in communities and above all in themselves.

Rotary was started in 1905 by a lawyer named Paul Harris and three friends. Meeting in a small office in downtown Chicago, they named their new club Rotary to describe the practice of meeting in rotation at the members various places of business. Together, with every humanitarian project they worked to change the world for the better.

In 1985, Rotary launched its Polio Plus Program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Today Polio is on the brink of eradication on the planet.

During his tenure, Raju is committing of two community projects and two global projects in collaboration with the Rotary District, Rotary International and the Eye foundation of America. As a trained physician and ophthalmologist, he wants to focus on hunger and nutrition in Monongalia County as community project.
