  1. SOUL! was there before Oprah, before Arsenio, from 1968 to 1973, the public television variety show guided by the enigmatic producer and host Ellis Haizlip, offered an unfiltered, uncompromising celebration of Black literature, poetry, music, and politics.

The film is currently still in theaters via virtual cinema starting its 6th month and the song SHOW ME YOUR SOUL by ROBERT GLASPER and LALAH HATHAWAY is now on the Oscar Shortlist for Best Original Song!

Featuring rare live performances and interviews from: The legendary Al Green, Heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, Sidney Poitier, Cicely Tyson, James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Toni Morrison, Patti LaBelle, Roberta Flack and many more! SOUL! was the first national show to provide expanded images of African Americans on television, shifting the gaze from inner-city poverty and violence to the vibrancy of the Black Arts Movement. With participants’ recollections and a bevy of great rarely seen archival clips, Mr. SOUL!  captures that critical moment in our nation’s cultural rise, and whose impact would continue to resonate across generations and cultures.
