Bloating: These herbs and spices can help

Bloating is increasingly becoming a common disorder that most people face almost every day. While there are several factors that contribute to bloating, the most common ones are having heavy meals, eating too fast and having salty foods.
Nutritionist Lovneet Batra, in her latest Instagram post, talked about what you should do when experiencing bloating. She mentioned the herbs and spices that are effective in de-bloating and giving you relief from the pain.
Fennel seeds (saunf)
These seeds, often used in many Indian dishes, contains anethole, fenchone and estragole that act as antispasmodic in relaxing the muscles. These seeds also have anti-inflammatory properties that contract the intestinal muscles as well.
Cumin seeds (jeera): “The wealth of volatile oils in cumin seeds such as cuminaldehyde, cymene and other terpenoid compounds are packed with anti-bloating features that instantly provide relief from gas and stomach cramps,” the expert wrote.
Ajwain (carom seeds)
The richness of volatile compounds of ajwain like pinene, limonene and carvone are chief elements that are effective in treating bloating.
Ginger
Ginger helps in de-bloating in a great way. It has anti-inflammatory properties that also helps to reduce heartburn. “Ginger contains compounds called gingerols that can help speed up stomach emptying and reduce bloating and gas,” as per the expert.
Mint
“Mint is soothing and energizing that comes with a boast of medicinal properties. It also possesses analgesic, spasmolytic and gastroprotective properties that aid in easing bloating, indigestion, and other gut problems,” wrote Lovneet Batra.
If you have acidity, then citrus fruits will make you feel worse. Coffee will also make you feel more acidic. Stay away from smoking, alcohol, fried foods and coffee. It would increase reflux, ulcer formation, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and acid-related symptoms.
