NEW YORK (TIP): India’s national carrier Air India announced schedule change for travel to and from Chicago. In its release it stated that effective June 1, 2019, up to June 30, 2019, their daily non-stop flight AI 127/AI 126 Delhi-Chicago-Delhi would operate as Delhi – Stockholm-Chicago -Delhi.
AI 127 departs from Delhi at 22:05 hours (local time) and arrives in Chicago at 07:25 hours (local time) the following day. AI 126 departs from Chicago at 12:00 hours (local time) and arrives in New Delhi at 14:15 hours (local time) the following day.
According to media reports, the debt-laden airline recently decided to discontinue direct flight service between Mumbai and New York. The airline is reportedly discontinuing the flights on this route due to poor demand. It may be noted that direct flights between Mumbai and New York were started by the airline in December last year.
According to reports, the direct flight operation between Mumbai and New York were causing losses to the airline. The carrier operated Mumbai-New York direct flights thrice a week. The operations were temporarily suspended in February when Pakistan closed its airspace for Indian flights and was expected to resume in June but the airline has decided to discontinue the service.
