NEW YORK (TIP): Vandana Sharma, Regional Manager, Air India USA announced at an event at the Indian Consulate in NYC last week that AI is doubling the numbers Delhi-San Francisco flight, which was launched last year and the flying time is also coming down to 15 hours, as it will take unique route by crossing the Pacific while coming and fly over Atlantic while returning.

The Delhi-San Francisco flight covered 15,300 kilometers in just 14.5 hours. The aircraft took off from Delhi at 4am on Sunday (October 16) morning and landed in San Francisco at 6.30 am on October 16 (local time in SFO). The flight does not travel over Atlantic anymore. Instead, it travels over the Pacific, a route almost 1,400 km longer. However, it takes lesser time as winds blow in the same direction as that of the plane. It does a round trip of the world as it flies back to India over the Atlantic to get tailwinds on both the outbound and inbound flights.
