MUMBAI (TIP): Popular former video jockey (VJ) and actress Sophiya Haque is no more, according to her friends and industry sources. She died in London due to an illness. She passed away in a hospital in London, tweeted former VJ Nikhil Chinappa. She was said to be in her 30s. witter was abuzz with messages on the death of Sophiya, who played the lead role in the 2000 film “Snip!” and was seen in a bit role in Salman Khan’s 2009 blockbuster “Wanted”.
Sophiya had also been part of international TV series like “House of Anubis”, “Coronation Street” and “Fur TV”. Ex-VJ Sophie Choudry tweeted: “When I moved here, you moved to my city. We barely met but I had great respect for you and your work. RIP Sophiya Haque – artist, iconic VJ, dancer, trendsetter.” “So completely heartbreaking,” wrote Maria Goretti, another popular former VJ who made it big in the 1990s. Composer Vishal Dadlani describes the late actress as a “beautiful spirit”, and posted: “Life is short, so fickle. People, hold your loved ones close, tell them you love them every day.” Actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt also mourned Sophiya’s death.
