J&K HEALTH MINISTER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

SRINAGAR (TIP): Jammu & Kashmir minister of state for health department Shabir Khan has been charged for sexually assaulting a lady doctor inside the civil secretariat in Srinagar.

The alleged assault took place on January 27. The police registered a sexual assault case against Khan after the survivor filed a complaint on Thursday. A top Kashmiri police officer on anonymity said that the minister was charged for sexual assault and he might face arrest after investigations.

According to the complainant, she was called by Khan to civil secretariat for some query when he was deputed to stay there for seven days as per roster issued by the chief minister Omar Abdullah soon after the government shifted to Jammu for the winter. Every minister is supposed to stay for seven days in the civil secretariat during winter.

The survivor said made her to wait inside his retiring room and after few minutes Khan entered the cabin inside his office and made objectionable remarks to her before trying sexually assault her. The survivor is the wife of a prominent separatist leader.
