Man arrested in Delhi over sextortion of American professor, siphoned $48,000 via blackmail

New Delhi (TIP)- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Rahul Kumar on allegations of sextortion of a USA professor. A case was registered by the International Operation Division of the CBI against the accused, who is a resident of New Delhi, with allegations including the sextortion of a professor at a prominent university in the USA.

The victim was allegedly lured via Facebook profile with a motive to extract sexually explicit images during video chatting. It was alleged that during a video chat, the victim was lured to send sexually-explicit videos which were recorded. It was further alleged that the accused sent threats via messages and he even used accounts related to the sexually-explicit video chat. Kumar allegedly demanded the amount on his PayPal account. The accused threatened the victim to release the sexually-explicit video if he failed to send the amount as asked.

It was also alleged that the victim sent payments worth $ 48,000 to his PayPal account.

Further, even after receiving the extortion money from the victim, the accused did not stop and continued sending threatening emails to the victim asking him to buy an iPhone charger and earphones. He also threatened the American professor of circulating the video, if his demands were not fulfilled. Authorities launched searches at Kumar’s property in Asola which led to the recovery of incriminating evidence.
