Brother among two arrested, two others booked
LUDHIANA (TIP): An NRI belonging to the city has paid his gratitude to the Punjab Police for taking action on his complaint related to a property fraud done to him, without making him visit India amid his apprehension of threat to his life. The complaint pertained to Saggar House, a prime property worth over Rs 100 crore situated on the Rani Jhansi road.
The suspects were identified as Kulwinder Singh Grewal, a resident of Sarabha Nagar, Anmol Saggar, his brother Atul Saggar and complainant’s real brother Rohit Saggar, all from Kundanpuri. A case under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 120-B(criminal conspiracy) of the IPC was registered against them. Kulwinder and Rohit have been arrested.
In a complaint submitted online to the Punjab DGP, Mohit Saggar, who resides in Chicago, US, stated that on March 9, 2022, Rohit allegedly forged his signature and sold his share of ancestral property to Kulwinder. He stated that the forgery stood proven as he had never visited India after the year 2000. Kulwinder further sold the property to others.
“Kulwinder and his associates wanted to grab my share in the said property. Earlier also, they had caused damage to my property and I had submitted complaints about it. On March 9, 2022, I came to know that Kulwinder, in connivance with Atul, Anmol and my brother sent some unidentified persons to the house. They forcibly trespassed on the property, broke a major portion of the building and loaded the bricks and other material in a vehicle. They not only wanted to take unlawful possession of the property, but also caused damage to the structure,” he stated. The complainant stated that he apprehended threat to his life at the hands of the suspects if came to India.
“I had sent a complaint to the Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, who further marked it to Parveen Sinha, ADGP, NRI Wing. At last, Dr Narinder Bhargav, DIG, NRI Wing, Ludhiana, conducted a probe and registered a case,” he said.
Dr Bhargav told The Tribune that during the police investigation, the role of the suspects, including the brother of the complainant, was established and a case was registered. While two of the persons named in the FIR had been arrested, raids were on to nab the remaining suspects, he added.
