Indian American Cornell University Student found dead

Aalaap Narasipura was a senior electrical engineering student

NEW YORK (TIP): Aalaap Narasipura, an Indian origin engineering student at the Cornell University, was found dead Friday May 19 after going missing since May 17. He was 20 years old.

Police confirmed Narasipura’s death two days after he was reported missing. Cornell University Police, working with the New York State Police, the Ithaca Police Department and the Ithaca Fire Department, recovered his body from Fall Creek, a short distance upstream from Ithaca Falls.While authorities are still investigating the case, they say that no foul play is suspected.

Cornell’s Vice President for Student and Campus Life Ryan Lombardi issued a statement expressing his grief. “On behalf of the Cornell University community, I extend our deepest condolences to Aalaap’s family and friends as they grieve this tragedy,” Lombardi wrote. “They are in our thoughts as we all come to grips with the enormity of this loss.”

According to Lombardi’s statement, Narasipura was a senior electrical engineering student on pace to graduate in December, played on the Ultimate Frisbee team, enjoyed photography and wanted his Master’s degree from Cornell. Narasipura is survived by his father, Jayadatta, his mother, Sandhya, and his brother, Eshan.
