AHMEDABAD (TIP): In a significant breakthrough, Indian authorities have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation, seizing approximately $120,000 worth of drugs hidden in spice packets on a flight bound for the United States. The operation, led by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including three Nigerian nationals, at Ahmedabad Airport.
The bust uncovered 2 kilograms of ketamine cleverly concealed within spice packets, a method frequently employed by this cartel. Acting on a tip-off about a drug network linked to Adnan Furniturewala, a notorious criminal, the NCB launched its operation on December 3. Furniturewala, who had been evading capture by frequently relocating, was apprehended in Bengaluru during the coordinated crackdown.
Investigations revealed the cartel’s operations spanned multiple states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional links and associates connected to the cartel.
