OTTAWA (TIP): Chandra Arya, who served as a Hindu-Canadian MP, on Saturday announced that his nomination as the candidate for the upcoming federal election in Nepean has been revoked.

Arya has been vocal against the alleged defacement of temples and other violent acts by Khalistanis in Canada. In the past, Arya has been a vocal critic of the former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s government for giving refuge to pro-Khalistani elements in the country. He has also slammed the petition initiated by Liberal Party MP Sukh Dhaliwal relating to the Air India Kanishka bombings of June 23, 1985, that left 329 people dead and was the worst tragedy in the history of aviation terror before the 9/11 attacks.

In an announcement on social media, Arya said, “I have been informed by the Liberal Party that my nomination as the candidate for the upcoming federal election in Nepean has been revoked.”

“While this news is deeply disappointing, it does not diminish the profound honor and privilege it has been to serve the people of Nepean — and all Canadians — as their Member of Parliament since 2015,” he said.

He added, “Over the years, I have poured my heart and soul into this role. I am immensely proud of the work I have done as a parliamentarian, the unwavering service I have provided to the residents of Nepean, the principled stands I have taken on issues that matter deeply to Canadians, and the causes I have stood up for — even when it was difficult, even when it came at a personal or political cost.”

“Serving my community and country has been the greatest responsibility of my life, and I remain grateful for every moment of it,” he added.
