Three Indian American teens die in Alpharetta car crash

Aryan Joshi and Sriya Avasarala reportedly died on the scene. Anvi Sharma, who was transported to the North Fulton Hospital in an unconscious condition died there later in the night.

ATLANTA, GA (TIP) : In a heartbreaking tragedy, three Indian American teens, all 18, died in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 7.55 pm Tuesday, May 14, in Alpharetta. Authorities have confirmed that the accident, which also resulted in injuries to two other 18-year-olds, occurred on a bend in the road along Westside Parkway between Maxwell Road and Hembree Road, a residential area.
The Alpharetta Police Department, through a statement released on Wednesday, May 15, identified all five victims.
Aryan Joshi and Sriya Avasarala reportedly died on the scene. Anvi Sharma, who was transported to the North Fulton Hospital in an unconscious condition died there later in the night. The Alpharetta and Indian American communities mourned her untimely passing at her funeral held on Wednesday afternoon.
Anvi and Sriya were freshmen at the University of Georgia. Aryan was a senior at Alpharetta High School.
The two injured students have been identified as Rithwak Somepalli, a Georgia State University student, who was the car’s driver, and Mohammed Liyakath, a senior at Alpharetta High School. They were also transported to North Fulton Hospital, but there is no update on their condition. The incident prompted the closure of that section of the street until approximately 2 a.m. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
