UNIONDALE, N.Y. (TIP): Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) partnered with the Uniondale Fire District, Uniondale School District, Glory House Recovery, Inc., and the Nassau County Police Department to celebrate 40 years of National Night Out with an event on Tuesday, August 1 at the Cornelius Court Elementary School in Uniondale. National Night Out is a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” The event enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing them together with residents in a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere.
Attractions included free hot dogs, pizza, refreshments, face painting, games, music, inflatables, DJ entertainment, prizes and surprise raffle drawings, vendors with lots of free giveaways, an appearance by Sparky the robotic fire dog, Dale – the Long Island Nets mascot and more. Legislator Abrahams thanks Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus, Western Beef of West Hempstead, Affinity by Molina, Heeling Soles, Inc., Millennium Sistahs and the United States Army for their contributions in support of the event. Special thanks to the Nassau County Police Explorers, Uniondale Jr. Firefighters and the Nassau County Crossing Guards for ensuring attendees were safe and having fun.
“For four decades, National Night Out has been a wonderful opportunity for our residents and our local law enforcement to build bonds and work together to make our communities stronger, safer, and more welcoming,” Legislator Abrahams said. “We are all incredibly thankful to our generous partners, sponsors, volunteers, law enforcement personnel and first responders for all they have done to make this event a success year after year.”
