“Fourteen years ago this week, I became the President of Xavier University School of Medicine. I began my tenure with one goal – to cultivate a quality and affordable medical education. It has been my great pleasure to work with the faculty and staff to prepare successful doctors to serve the world. A big ‘thank you’ to the Board of Trustees, who have supported our continued progress and played an important role in our achievements. During this time, we reached multiple significant milestones, such as unconditional accreditation by the A.C.C.M (recognized by the E.C.F.M.G. and N.C.F.M.E.A. under the U.S. Department of Education, Washington DC), approval from the New York State Education Department, 84% residency match rate this year, over 95% first-time pass rate in U.S.M.L.E. Step 1 and U.S.M.L.E. Step 2 C.K., opening a new residential campus in Aruba, commenced building a new academic campus (set to open in 2023), and being named a Top 10 Caribbean Medical School. We have provided opportunity to a countless number of students during my fourteen years, and we look forward to continuing to provide opportunities to students to fulfill their dreams of becoming a doctor.”
