Remembering 9/11

Sunday, Sept. 11th, Times Square, NYC – 11am-12pm

NEW YORK (TIP): Indian American community organizations in association with the Federation of Indian Associations have  organized a peaceful prayer gathering at Times Square. This is to pay respect to the men and women who lost their lives and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us all safe and to serve our homeland – the USA.  The gathering will also express the community’s’ concerns with the recent attacks including the vandalizing of Mahatma Gandhi’s  Statue and hate crimes against Indian Americans.

RANA President  Prem Bhandari FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya,  FIA President Kenny Desai and FIA Past President and Chairman of Bihar Foundation Alok Kumar collectively stated that the non-political and non-religious prayer gathering will include chanting of Mahatma Gandhi’s teaching and prayers which are more relevant now than they were ever before.  The team is inviting and trying to compile a diverse group of community organizations which will include inviting Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson and Martin Luther King Jr.’s  family members.
