BHUBANESWAR (TIP): The 3-day 18^th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas concluded here on Friday, January 10^th, with the President of India Droupadi Murmu presiding over the Valedictory session during which she presented the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman to 27 distinguished persons of Indian origin.

More than 3000 delegates drawn from around the globe participated in the biannual event held every year from January 8 to 10 to commemorate the return of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, from his stint in South Africa. The Pravasi Bharati Divas was started in 2003 and has served as a unique platform for overseas Indians to share their achievements and issues with people and governments of the country of their original domicile. 

The 18^th PBD was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Damodardass Modi on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at a specially erected hall in the sprawling Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. He was accorded a rousing reception by the large gathering of NRI’s, local politicians, guests and officials.
