Say goodbye to protein shakes and other power ups. The ingredient that’s creating a buzz in several health forums and amongst researchers, lies in a new drink — camel drink. It is new here, because unlike in the Middle East and other countries where it is had, India has only just woken up to its benefits. It is still to be legitimised here unlike the West, where it is being touted as a ‘superfood’.

A news report quotes Anand Singh Bhati, a member of Rajasthan’s camelrearing community of Rebaris who owns these animals, as saying of a malaria outbreak, “Ten to 12 days of camel milk cures the person.” The milk is considered rich in potassium, magnesium, iron and other nutrients.
It also contains three times more vitamin C and 10 times more iron than cow’s milk, says city-based dietician Sheela Tanna. She shows different ways of adding it to your diet…

2. It contains insulin and is effective in diabetes and gestational diabetes too. Extremely versatile, camel milk can be used to make smoothies and kheer, which could make it part of the daily diet for diabetics.
