TRIUND – A WALK ABOVE THE CLOUDS – Incredible India

Triund is the crown jewel of dharamshala , situated in the laps of dhauladhar mountains, it has the perfect view of the dhauladhar mountains on one side and kangra valley on the other. Triund is a very popular trekking spot . Triund attracts a lot of tourist every year from India and all over the world .

Triund  trek can be described as a tranquil trek which can be easily accomplished by almost all age groups . Triund has an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron . Trek is fairly easy for the first five kilometers but the last one kilometer may require a bit of toil , the last one kilometer is popularly know as the “22 curves” as it has 22 tiring  curves before you finally reach Triund. Along the way there are many small  chai shops where one can refresh during the hike. The traipse is worth it as the panorama when you reach triund is awe-inspiring and exhilarating .Triund is come-at-able for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by heavy snowfall in the months of January and February . Trip to triund can be planed diversely.

TRIUND 1Trek

This is one of the most popular trek that you can do in short period of time. From Triund you have most spectacular view of the snow covered peaks of dhauladhar one one side and Kangra valley on the other. You have got different view at different time of the day-Sunset, moonrise, sunrise all present a different picture of the place.

Day 01:  Arrival Dharamsala

Arrive Dharamsala by an overnight Volvo bus or fly from Delhi to Dharamsala. On arrival at Bus station /Airport transfer to Hotel in Dharamsala. Afternoon city tour of Dharamsala visiting H.H. Dalai Lama Temple, and Norbulingka(a Tibetan centre for learning and preserving traditional art and craft). Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02:  Bhagsu Nag-Triund 9 km walk

TRIUND 2After breakfast on your own, start walking from Bhagsu Nag. It is steep ascent for 4 hours through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees to Triund. Packed lunch enroute. Arrive Triund and check in lodge or camp. Triund is an alpine meadow situated on top of a ridge from where we have superb view of the peaks of Dhauladhar mountain on one side and Kangra valley on the other. Overnight stay at camp. Dinner with bonfire in the evening.

Day 03: Triund-Khabrotu-Triund-Bhagsu Nag 13 kms

After breakfast at Triund walk futher upto Khabrotu from where you have close view of Laka Glacier and the peaks of Dhauladhar. Walk back to Triund. Lunch at Triund. After lunch we take a different route on the way back to Bhagsu. It is downhill walk for three to four hours to Bhagsu Nag. Enroute we come across Bhagsu waterfall. Trek Ends at Bhagsu Nag Village. Check in hotel to continue drive to your next destination.

Triund has a very scenic mountain lodge with a majestic view of dhauladhar ranges . This lodge is in solitary , away from all other indwellers of Triund.
