Divya and Sarabjot win mixed team pistol gold at Baku World Cup

Sarabjot Singh and TS Divya beat Damir Mikec and Zorana Arunovic 16-14 to win the gold medal in mixed team 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Indian pair registered a fine 581 to top the qualification round and they held their nerves in a tight final to seal the top prize. Sarabjot shot 293 in qualification while Divya scored 288.
In the final, India won the first two rounds and put the experienced Serbian team under pressure. Serbia, however, bounced back and both teams were tied 14-14. But in the final round of shots, Sarabjot fired a 10.6 and Divya 9.9 as Damir shot 10.3 and Zorana 8.6. Sarabjot has shown good form this season and won gold at World Cup in Bhopal. For Divya, it was her first ISSF World Cup medal. They were competing in mixed team event for the third time.
India’s second pair of Esha Singh and Varun Tomar shot a combined 578 in the qualification and finished fifth overall. It was India’s second medal in the event after Rhythm Sangwan opened with a bronze medal in 10m air pistol on Wednesday.
