West Indies beat India: storm in to Final with a flourish

MUMBAI (TIP): In a thrilling finish, West Indies dashed India’s hopes for a world cup win. West Indies were replying to India’s mammoth score of 192.   With 3 balls remaining they needed 3 runs to win. At the crease were Andre Russel and Lendl Simmons., Andre Russell hit Virat Kohli to a powerful six to win the match for West Indies, with 2 balls remaining.

Earlier, chasing a mammoth Indian score of 192, the West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle got out cheaply at 5. However, Johnson Charles and Lendl Simmons stood their ground and together took the West Indies score to 116 for 2.  At this point, Indian skipper Dhoni introduced an unconventional bowling change. He brought in Virat Kohli to bowl. And lucky as Virat is, he had Johnson Charles caught right on the first ball of his over.

At this point, West Indies were 116 for 3, having lost Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Johnson Charles.

The next batsman in was Andre Russell. He and Simmons went in hungrily for runs. While Simmons hit 82 off 51 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes, his co- batsman Russell scored 43 off 20 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. West Indies reached the winning target of 193 with 2 balls to spare.
