NEW YORK CITY (TIP): Consul General Ambassador Riva Ganguly Das will inaugurate the Third International Hindi Conference 2016 on Friday, April 29 at the Consulate General of India Ball Room in New York.
Dr. Heinz Werner Wessler, a renowned scholar of Hindi from the Institute for Linguistics and Philology, Uppsala, Sweden, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural event. He will speak on the main theme of the conference, ‘Hindi Language: A Democratic Voice of Complex Issues in Education, Literature, Arts and Media’.
The conference will be held from April 29 to May 1 at the Consulate General of India premises. It will offer thought-provoking discussions on topics of common interest and entertaining programs including a Kavi Sammelan by leading poets from India and the Diaspora.
The conference is organized by Hindi Sangam Foundation in collaboration with the Consulate General of India and various other social and cultural organizations in the Tri-State area. Educational experts, scholars, policy makers, business owners, professionals as well as writers and poets from the U.S., Europe, India and other parts of the world will participate in the conference.
About a dozen academic sessions on topics related with promotion and teaching of Hindi will be held during the three-day conference in which research scholars, university professors, and professionals from various fields will present their viewpoints. The sessions also include discussions on ‘Teaching Hindi as a heritage language’, ‘Global perspectives of Hindi language and literature’, and ‘Development of Hindi around the world’.
A poetry and essay competition has been organized for students of Middle and High Schools. L.T. Ngaihte, Consul, Consulate General of India will present awards to the winners of the competition.
“The conference will focus on presenting Hindi as a democratic language, which is capable to function as a powerful medium of expression in a varieties of disciplines including Politics, science, media and medicine”, said Ashok Ojha, Coordinator of the conference.
According to Prof. Gabriela Nik Ilieva, Chief of the Academics Committee, the conference offers unique opportunity for collaboration among stakeholders from various fields including education, business and commerce, art, politics and administration for the growth of Hindi as a world language.
The main objectives of the Third International Hindi Conference 2016, is to continue providing an effective forum for networking among Hindi and other language professionals and supporters.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Deputy Consul General, Consulate General of India, will preside over the concluding event of the conference, which will be held on Sunday, May 1. Speakers and supporters of the conference will be honored at the concluding event of the conference.
