NEW YORK, NY (TIP): The new Permanent Representative of India to the United Nation, Asoke Mukerji hosted an inaugural reception at the Permanent Mission in New York April 30th. Senior officials at the UN, diplomats from member countries at the UN and the international media attended the event. In his first official speech at the Permanent Mission, Asoke Mukerji vowed to maintain the mission’s accomplishments and also carry forward the legacy of his predecessors. This was the first official event after the PR took his office on April 16th 2013. Before his appointment at New York, Mukerji had served as Special Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
