Dance for a Cause: Save a life

EDISON, NJ (TIP): September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. It highlights the frequency with which this disease can strike any woman of any age and, if undetected, its deadly consequences.

Early detection is crucial. In fact, women diagnosed with gynecological cancers when they are younger than 65, do better than those above that age. If those cancers, such as ovarian cancer, are found and treated before the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, the five-year survival rate is about 92%. However, only 15% of all ovarian cancers are found at this early stage.

As you can appreciate, early detection is the key. And the best way to ensure early detection is to spread awareness of the risks, signs and symptoms of this deadly disease, before it is too late.

To highlight the importance of early detection and subsequent treatment of this and similar gynecological cancers, a special awareness event has been organized on Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. This event has been spearheaded by Shilpa Jhingan, who herself is an ovarian cancer survivor.

Enjoy a Bollywood and Zumba dance workout presented by the well-known Arya Dance Academy. Also hear from medical experts about early detection and treatment options as well as prevention.

Dance for a good cause. Save a life.

The organizers say all proceeds will go to the For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation and Pink Sari Foundation.
