New York Aug 12 (TIP): Indian American Tech Expert Jig Patel has been appointed as the new executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at UMB Financial Corp., the holding company for UMB Bank.

As CIO, Patel will head the financial institution’s technology strategy and will be responsible for developing the company’s technical talent and using technology to grow the business (Nasdaq: UMBF).

Patel has more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry within the financial services sector. Prior to his role at UMBFC he was vice president of global technology at IBM.

“As we all know, technology is rapidly evolving and we need someone with Jig’s expertise to lead us in the right direction from a financial services standpoint,” Peter deSilva, president and chief operating officer of UMB Financial Corp., said in a release. “We believe Jig’s prior experience at IBM coupled with his financial knowledge will be a true asset to our team and will help us attract and retain talent in this industry.
