Nassau County deputy arrested on drug charges

MINEOLA, NY (TIP): A deputy with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office was fired Tuesday, June 9 night and arrested on drug trafficking charges, Sheriff Bill Leeper said.

Stuart James Raulerson, 38, was charged with conspiracy to engage in trafficking hydrocodone and sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church or school, Leeper said.

Raulerson is accused of selling his own prescription medication to another man for re-sale. The deputy denies the allegations, saying there is no physical evidence to support the charges according to sources

Reports said that a warrant was issued for Raulerson’s arrest after an internal investigation which led to a sworn statement from the man accused of buying the drugs from Raulerson. He said the Sheriff’s Office learned Raulerson was selling prescription medication and there was enough evidence to fire the deputy although the investigation is ongoing.

Jail records indicate Raulerson was released from jail Tuesday night.
