NEWARK — Indian American Doctor Yash Khanna who admitted to taking cash kickbacks for referrals and failing to file tax returns will serve nine months in prison, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman announced in a release today.
According to Fishman, Yash Khanna, 73, of Livingston, previously admitted receiving more than $10,000 in illegal kickbacks for referring Medicare and Medicaid patients to Orange Community MRI for diagnostic testing.
While operating his own medical facility – Family Medicine and Pediatrics, LLC in East Orange – from 2009 to 2011, Khanna also admitted to intentionally failing to file tax returns on over $1 million worth of income, Fishman said.
