DHAKA (TIP): At least 29 people, including children and women, were killed in Bangladesh on May 12 after being struck by lightning in Dhaka and several other districts. Five of them were killed in Sirajganj, four in Pabna, Kishoreganj and Brahmanbarhia each, three in Rajshahi, two in Gazipur, Bogra and Natore each, and one in Habiganj during thunderstorms on Thursday, bdnews24.com reported. Two children were killed in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area where they were playing football in a field. Doctors were treating three other boys who were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with wounds caused by the lightning, police said. They said in most cases the victims were farmers who were busy in harvesting rice in villages. (PTI)
