PIO plans attack on Muslims in Singapore, detained

Singapore (TIP): A person of Indian origin (PIO) has been detained for allegedly planning to attack Muslims at two Singapore mosques in March on the anniversary of the 2019 New Zealand’s Christchurch attack.

The 16-year-old, a Protestant Christian, is the youngest person to be dealt with for terrorism-related activities, the Internal Security Department (ISD) said.

The ISD stated that the teen was influenced by the Christchurch attacks that left 51 dead. “He was self-radicalised, motivated by a strong antipathy towards Islam and a fascination with violence,” the ISD said. — PTI
